Service Details & How It Works

How Stops Are Determined

Bus routes and stops are designed based on the transportation interest forms submitted before each school year. Stops are typically within 5 miles of the student’s home, but are not guaranteed to be within walking distance. This is a hub-style service with designated pickup/drop-off points—not door-to-door transportation.

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Families are responsible for transporting students to and from their assigned stop. Families are expected to arrive 10 minutes early at stops and ensure student's do not miss the bus when it arrives.

Student Behavior Expectations

All school rules apply on the bus just as they do on campus. Riding the bus is a privilege, not a guarantee—and maintaining a safe, respectful environment for all riders is essential.

Students are expected to:

  • Follow directions from the bus driver at all times

  • Remain seated while the bus is in motion

  • Speak respectfully and use appropriate language

  • Keep hands, feet, and belongings to themselves

  • Avoid any disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behavior

  • Possession of vape devices or tobacco products is not permitted on the bus

Repeated or serious violations of bus expectations may result in the loss of transportation privileges. Families will be notified of any concerns, and disciplinary action will follow Pivot’s code of conduct. We ask that parents partner with us to reinforce expectations and ensure that the ride to and from school is safe and calm for all students.

Who Manages the Routes

Pivot Charter School partners with a professional third-party transportation company to provide safe, reliable service to our students. This company is responsible for creating routes, assigning drivers, determining stop times, and managing day-to-day operations.

While Pivot does not directly supervise drivers or operate the buses, we work closely with the provider and maintain regular communication to support a smooth experience for our families. If any issues arise, our school team is here to help mediate and advocate on your behalf.

Availability & Limitations

Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis based on interest form submissions. Submitting an interest form does not guarantee a seat. Confirmation will be sent via email before the start of the school year. Routes may change mid-year if students withdraw, move, or if ridership drops below minimum thresholds.

Communication & Delays

Families will be notified by email and/or text about route assignments and any major updates. If delays or issues occur, the transportation provider is responsible for informing Pivot, and we will relay that information to families as soon as it is received.

Please note: The timeliness of our notifications depends on when and how quickly the provider communicates with us. While we do our best to keep families informed, we are not always able to give real-time updates.

We strongly recommend that families have a backup transportation plan in place, especially during the first few weeks of school when adjustments and delays are more common.

Transportation Stipend Now Available for K-8 Students

Under House Bill 5101, a new Transportation Stipend has been introduced to assist families with transportation costs. This stipend, which replaces the Transportation Scholarship under the Florida Tax Credit (FTC) and Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) programs, provides $750 per eligible household to supplement transportation costs for K-8 students. The stipend is available for students attending any Florida non-virtual public school outside of their assigned school zone, regardless of household income. Please note that we are not-affiliated with the scholarship/stipend provider.

Alternative Transportation Options

We understand that arranging transportation for your child can be challenging, especially when the available options might not align perfectly with your needs. Your concerns matter to us, and we're here to provide support and solutions. At Pivot Charter School, we recognize that our bus service's limited stops might not meet everyone's preferences.

While we aim to accommodate as many students as possible, we've also gathered alternative transportation options to assist you in finding the best fit for your family. Additionally, we've compiled information about 3rd party providers, keeping in mind that Pivot Charter School is not affiliated with these companies.

Here are some options to consider if our bus service doesn't meet your needs:

  • Carpool: Team up with neighbors or other students nearby for shared rides.

  • Public Transit: There is a Hart Bus Stop on the corner of Falkenburg & Causeway (approx. 0.3 miles from Campus). Your child may be eligible for a free/discounted Farecard. Please contact Hart at (813) 254-4278 for more information.

  • Walk or Bike: Promote a healthy commute for your child, when possible.
